∙ 13y agoCaligula had only a remote relation to Julius Caesar. However he was a direct descendant of Augustus Caesar. Julius had no son so he adopted his great nephew, (Octavian) Augustus as his heir. Augustus had five grandchildren and Caligula's mother was Augustus' granddaughter. That made Caligula the great grandson of Augustus, a member of the Julian clan, but distantly related to Julius Caesar.
