King Arthur is portrayed as the ideal King because of his ideals and morals. He was supposedly fair, honourable, brave, loyal, religious and he was also supposedly the originator of democratic leadership (his knights of the round table) as well as fighting off the darkness (Mordred and Morgana). He also founded Camelot which was supposed to be fair and sort of utopian kingdom and so is portrayed as a good leader and king to his subjects.
The legend of King Arthur, however, is based on fables.
An Arthurian hero is typically characterized by qualities such as bravery, loyalty, chivalry, and a sense of duty. They are often on quests or adventures that test their virtues and honor. These heroes are usually associated with King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, embodying the ideals of knighthood and honor.
