It is called modulation. The analog wave is modulated by a number of ways to represent digital data(signal).

These include phase changes, freq shifting, freq keying.

wherein a change in phase denotes a 0 or 1 .

There are more complex ways things are done to achieve the same effect with greater efficiecny.

To simply understand... the most basic of all is on - off keying. the analog signal is switched on or off to represent 0 or 1

With a DAC: Digital to Analog Converter.

While typical DACs simply convert a digital number to a voltage, there are many special DACs:

  • MDAC: Multiplying DAC, multiplies an input analog voltage by a digital number to produce an output analog voltage
  • SyncroDAC: Converts a digital number to 3-phase AC Syncro signal that will cause a Syncromotor to rotate to the angle specified in the digital number
  • Current output DACs
  • etc.

What is the meaning of converting a digital signal to an analog signal?

Digital is an upgraded audio and visual signal. There will be a transition in the United States on February 17, 2009, where all broadcast analog signals will be converted to digital signal.

Does a digital camera use digital signals?

The signal directly from the sensor is analog. It is than converted to digital, and a digital signal is used for processing. The signal directly from the sensor is analog. It is than converted to digital, and a digital signal is used for processing.

What converts a message from digital to analog and analog to digital?

An DAC convert digital signal to analog signal i.e Digital to Analog Converter. An ADC convert analog signal to digital signal i.e Analog to Digital Converter.

How could a digital signal from outer space be picked-up?

Radio "signals" are always analog, not digital. To send a digital signal, it must be converted to analog format, and then the received signal has to be re-converted to digital. So the Voyager and Viking space probes, for example, include a digital-to-analog converter attached to the radio transmitter, and the radio receivers here on Earth are routed through an analog-to-digital converter to make sense of them. You yourself may have such an "analog-to-digital" converter; they are called "modems", or "modulator/demodulator".

There are four possible combinations of encoding techniques -Digital data, digital signal -Digital data, analog signal -Analog data, digital signal -Analog data, analog signal

What are Disadvantages of digital control?

Unwanted Errors of precision when the analog signal is converted into a quantized, sampled digital signal. The same error arises when the digital signal is then converted into an analog signal for the plant to use.

The difference between Digital signal and analog signal?

I'm not sure if you are speaking of a specific instance.... However, a digital signal is a binary representation of the analog signal. The analog signal is constantly measured and the amplitude (voltage at the time of sample) of the analog signal is converted to a binary number at specific intervals (the frequency of the sample rate). The higher the frequency of the sample rate, the more accurate the representation of the analog signal.

What are basic elements of digital signal processing?

The basic elements in digital signal processing are an analog to digital converter, digital signal processor, and digital to analog converter. This process can take an analog input signal, convert it to digital for processing and offer an analog output.
