Root comes in the begining of a word and prefixis come usually at the end

A root is the part of the word that the word derives its meaning from, and a prefix is the part of the word added in front of the root to add to the meaning.

Supersonic; sonic is the root it means sound, super is the prefix it means above; so supersonic speed is speed higher than the speed of sound. Other prefixes could be, sub-, hyper- and ultra-, they can all be added to the front of sonic to make other words of differing meaning.

A prefix is added to the beginning of a word to modify its meaning, while a root is the base word that carries the primary meaning. Prefixes often change the word's tense, meaning, or grammatical function, whereas roots provide the core meaning of a word.
