wavelength is the distance from the peak of one wave to the peak of the next. In this diagram, the wavelength is measured from crest to crest, but the wavelength could be measured from trough to trough as well.

A wave's amplitude is the maximum distance that a wave vibrates from its resting position. In a transverse wave, this means that the amplitude of the wave is the highest or lowest point. In a longitudinal wave, the amplitude is the maximum distance the wave travels back or forth. The more energy the wave has, the larger the amplitude will be.

the amplitude of a wave is the height of the wave and the higher the amplitude the more energy it takes to move that wave. this means that waves with higher amplitudes have less energy
