Photosynthesis is a process, not a chemical. 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + photons -> C6H12O6 + 6 O2.

To show that the oxygen during photosynthesis is liberated by the photolysis of water the following equation is written-

6CO2 + 12 H2O ----Photons & chloroplast----> C6H12O6 + 6H2O + 6 O2

6H2O + 6CO2 ----------> C6H1206+ 6O2 is the chemical equation....

H20 means water (2 atoms of Hydrogen and Oxygen)

CO2 means carbon dioxide (Carbon and 2 atoms of Oxygen)

C6H12O6 means glucose (6 atoms of carbon, 12 atoms of hydrogen and 6 atoms of oxygen)

O2 means 2 atoms of oxygen
