A most basic answer: living organisms must use energy to maintain homeostasis.
Homeostasis is the "balance" of our body--we are kept within a very strict and small allowance of our internal environment. This includes our pH, temperature, fluid levels, etc. If any of these things change, the body must spend energy to get it back within that allowable range for us to live. That isn't to say the body doesn't spend energy if things are within range--it is constantly using energy to KEEP things in that range (not just fix the ones that wander out).
How it uses the energy to maintain homeostasis is a very long and varied answer. There are hundreds of ways for hundreds of situations.
by taking in and using food as a source of energy. by breathing
They both allow organisms to function effectively in a broad range of environmental conditions.
Homeostasis is the tendency of an organism to regulate its internal conditions when dealing with external changes. Energy is required in order to maintain homeostasis.
The maintenance of the internal environment within narrow controlled limits
Usually, in the conext of Western Science when it refers to the human body, or any organism, means homeostasis. This relates to a relatively stable internal environmnt where all metabolic processes occur.
homeostasis is a name (or best to say a category IMO) for processes which keeps the internal environment constant ... E.g. you get dehydrated, your body will make the urine you produce more concentrated to try and keep the body system at correct levels
The development of form in an organism during its growth. The evolutionary development of form in an organism or part of an organism. Morphogenetic adj.
organism. any living system.
It is any organism that can make its own food by light energy or chemical energy
The Meaning of being dormant is that an organism has basically taken a nap.To explain it scientifically it means that an organism is inactive and like not "alive".It means that they are basically taking a nap.
Homeostasis is the term that describes an organism's ability to regulate and maintain a relatively constant internal temperature, regardless of external conditions.

The basic definition of health for many people is the absence of disease. Another definition would be the functional or metabolic efficiency of an organism.
homeo όμοιο meaning ''self, on its own'' and stasis στάση meaning ''completely still''.
From Ancient Greek "homos," meaning similar, and Latin "stare," meaning "to remain."
Wonder if this means "metamorphosis"? Generally speaking that means a change in form, often applied in biology when an organism undergoes a radical change in its structure, like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.
Homeostasis means equilibrium of a system.
of Apply
its the increase in height and other features of an organism
acclimatization is "The physiological adaptation of an animal or plant to changes in climate or environment, such as light, temperature, or altitude." homeostasis is "The ability or tendency of an organism or cell to maintain internal equilibrium by adjusting its physiological processes." acclimatization changes and homeostasis stays the same. both defintions taken from answers.com
