One is a weight on an elastic string, bobbing up and down. Each down/up involves potential-kinetic-elastic-kinetic-potential conversions.

A transfer would also include placing a heavy weight on a spring-loaded platform. The reduced gravitational potential of the weight is stored as compression energy in the spring, which will rebound if the weight is removed.

I'm quite sure that any type of energy can be changed into any other type of energy, like in a nuclear reactor for example: water is heated (thermal energy) steam turns a turbine (kinetic energy), so the thermal energy has been converted into kinetic energy. I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but I'm quite sure this is right :-)

Kinetic energy is turned into potential energy when, for example, a ball is thrown into the air: the speed if the ball is decreasing as its height from the ground is increasing.

As rocket rises its kinetic energy changes at the time the rocket reaches its highest point most of the kinetic energy in the rocket has been?

Converted to potential energy. At the highest point of its trajectory, a rocket has very little kinetic energy because it has lost speed while gaining potential energy as it moves upward against gravity. This conversion of kinetic energy to potential energy occurs as the rocket's speed decreases and it gains altitude.

Is hydroeletric energy kinetic or potential?

Potential energy (turned into kinetic energy to drive the turbines), (turned into electrical energy by the turbines). Note the original source of this energy is the Sun (nuclear fusion).

What situation does not involve Potential energy being changed into kinetic energy?

One situation that does not involve potential energy being changed into kinetic energy is when an object is stationary at rest. In this case, the potential energy is stored in the object due to its position in a gravitational field, but there is no conversion into kinetic energy as the object is not in motion.

What are the two main forms of energy?

The two main forms of energy are Kinetic energy and Potential Energy. Kinetic energy is motion energy. Potential energy is energy stored in matter.

What are the two types of mechanical energy?

The two types of mechanical energy are kinetic energy, which is associated with the motion of an object, and potential energy, which is associated with the position or configuration of an object.

What is the total kinetic energy and potential energy?

It is the sum of potential and kinetic energy.

What are the two basic types of energy?

There are two main types of energy which is kinetic and potential energy.. Kinetic energy is an energy associated with motion.. while the potential energy is an energy stored with the position of an object, or its chemical composition.

Two general types of energy are kinetic energy and?

Potential energy. An example of potential energy is a charged mouse trap. An example of kinetic energy is the mouse trap being sprung. Potential energy can be thought of as "stored kinetic energy". And kinetic energy can be thought of as "released potential energy"
