You will see math while making a game but, not really while playing it. By the way to the guy below me I do think it is better to do raw coding then buttons because you get more experience and it's more fun, to see how every code you type becomes something.

Answer

Everywhere. Your score requires a formula to add, x and y axis to locate your character and z axis in 3-d games. On pressure sensitive games the depth of the button into the controller is multiplied by some number to equal speed. I suggest you go to www.gamemaker.nl and download Game Maker by Mark Overmars and try to make your own, it becomes very obvious very fast once you get into raw coding (which is sadly easier sometimes than using pre-made buttons).

Specific coding and algorithms are needed to create video games. Especially games that require physics (Racing games, shooting games etc). The more complex the game, the more complex the codes, algorithms (and essentially the math) needs to be.

Most Definitely. Math is Incorporated into many video games and some games such as math blaster are all about doing math alone. Others such as Brain age or Flash Focus are also used as teaching tools. But even in your standard adventure or First Person Shooter game you are almost always subconsciously doing math and stimulating parts of the brain not used in many other activities.

I use maths basically to just hack a video game, but in a video game, it is for calculating the time taken for the character to move, and the character stat. But basically, it is for the character's movements.
