Surgical cleanser

Scrub Care

Exidine

-2 CHG 2%

Chlorhexidine Gluconate 2% Solution

It is what they use in surgery to prep patients with and also what they scrub with prior to performing surgery. You may be able to find it at a Home Health Agency type place or ask your physician if they could supply you for a charge with a bottle. Just a drop on a sponge is all you need and it will clean a very large area.

The distributor is Cardinal Health - McGaw Park,IL 60085

For questions you can call 1-773-268-5800 M-F 8am - 4:30pm (got it off the bottle)

Sometimes they can tell you if they supply people outside of the medical facilities or where you can obtain their products (i.e. Home Care Stores, online, etc.).

Hope this was helpful to you.

It depends of how the tape was applied. Usually the tape will be across the cut, to pull the skin closed. In this case, start by pulling up a corner from one end of the tape to get a hold of it, then pull towards the cut (at the center of the tape) going "low and slow" - pulling the tape back on itself rather than up and away from the skin. Use your other hand to support the skin under the tape, for example, as you pull the tape off with one hand, use a finger from the other hand to push down on the skin where the tape is being removed, for added gentleness. Once you get close to the cut, stop what you are doing and start from the other end, so that the tape gets pulled into a 'U' shape, with only the part of the tape that is over the cut still attached. Now, take the two ends of tape in one hand, pressing gently with the other hand on the (healed) cut near the tape, and gently peel the tape off sideways, in the direction of the cut. This way, you can remove the tape without reopening the cut. If you have difficulty pulling back the outer edges of the tape, you might apply some hand lotion to the area to get under the tape and pull if off. Sometimes there is a film dressing over the strips of tape to protect the area. This would have to be removed first. You take it off by lifting and edge just enough to hold onto it and then stretch it out (not up). When you stretch the film, it glides right off the skin, slowly, without pulling off the strips of tape underneath. One other thought is that with areas of hair growth, it is more comfortable to pull tape off in the direction of the hair growth. For example, the hairs on my arm tend to point outward, and if i peel the tape in that direction, I barely feel it. I realize that if tape is across a cut, you may have to pull in both directions, as per the above instructions.
