In the Pendragon series, Saint Dane is defeated in the tenth book. Bobby goes to Saint Dane's side of Halla (in this cause, dark Solara) and fights Saint Dane. Saint Dane continues losing his power ang gets weak giving the possibility for Bobby to kill him.

He thought that tearing down the bounderies of the territorries was the first step to a 'better Halla' so that's why. Saint Dane went corrupt with power from the place called Solara, Hallas spirit. Saint Dane created the flumes, to connect the territories. Saint Dane originally meant to do good in Halla, but went corrupt and got selfish. That's why Saint Dane is evil, if you don't understand, read book 10.
