Another word for advocate is an "intercessor", The Holy spirit speaks to God for us, from our hearts when we are not conscious of it. Although we are free to talk to God in prayer, at any time, sometimes we feel so passionate or want to cry out to God but do not have all the words, he speaks for us.
We need to first understand some terms. An advocate is a helper or comforter and while on Earth, Jesus Himself, was an advocate for His disciples. Various translations of The Bible also use the terms "Helper" and "Comforter" to describe this additional Advocate-the "Holy Spirit" (See John 14:26) which was going to come from God the Father to reside and assist all Christians.
Mainstream Christianity has accepted the idea of the Holy Spirit to be a third person of a triune Godhead - called the Trinity. They proclaim this to be a divine mystery no one can fully understand. However, the Bible itself, describes the Holy Spirit as 'the power of God' (see Luke 1:35; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; and Romans 15:13). It is God's 'life force, mind and very essence' which He imparts 'life' to others (compare John 5:26; 6:63; Romans 8:27; 1 Corinthians 2:16; and John 4:24).
So God's Holy Spirit within us is the 'Spirit of Truth' (John 14:17) which now identifies repentant, baptized, and imitators of Christ as "children of God" (Romans 8:14-16). Eternal life is the promise of all who have God's Holy Spirit within them (see Romans 8:11). While 'begotten' by God spiritually, the new 'Christian' grows in the knowledge of God - His truths of Scripture - and leads a life reflecting this as well as completing the works God has established for them since the beginning:
Ephesians 2:10New King James Version (NKJV)
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
The Holy Spirit intervenes for you when you pray, helps you to serve God and communicates to you and helps you understand God and Faith.
The term "paraclete" is derived from Greek and refers to a helper, advocate, or comforter. In Christian theology, it is often used to describe the Holy Spirit as one who comes alongside believers to provide guidance and support.
Jesus said he would leave the Holy Spirit with the disciples to guide and empower them to continue his work after he ascended to heaven.
The Holy Spirit. John 14:26. "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and will cause you to remember everything I said to you."
The Holy Spirit is mentioned around 90 times in the New Testament. It plays a significant role in guiding, empowering, and inspiring believers. The Holy Spirit is often referred to as the helper, comforter, and advocate.
While the synoptic gospels speak of the Holy Spirit, using the neuter Greek word. pneuma, John's Gospel uses parakletos, literally "the One called alongside", but translated as paraclete, as a personal designation for a Spirit called in after Jesus' departure as "advocate" to defend Christians and "comforter".1 John, known to have been written in the same community as John, never uses the word paraclete or advocate for the Spirit, but does use parakletos to describe Jesus (1 John 2:1).
Do you believe in God the Father Almighty, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Spirit, the Advocate?
Say 'I invite the holy spirit in' and the holy spirit will come in
The word paraklete comes from the Greek meaning 'one who comes alongside, an advocate, comforter.' This is the term Jesus uses to describe the Holy Spirit.
