The alligator is coloured to look like a log, and the texture of their backs looks like a log as well to keep them camoflaughed. They are able to remain perfectly motionless for long periods of time as well.

∙ 12y agoAlligators are known as 'the living fossil' because they haven't changed in a long, long time. They've been around for 200 MILLION years. The 'death roll' is one of their behaviors, and also the short lunge with hard snap of the jaw is a survival behavior.
