The cup size of a bra is measured by how much bigger the measurement around your breasts is than the measurement around your rib cage. This means that smaller cup sizes are when the breasts are only a little bit larger than the rib cage, and larger cup sizes are when the breasts are much larger than the rib cage.

When you change from 36C to 36D, you have gone up a cup size. This means that your boobs are getting bigger.
