Because is shows how some people regret not doing certain things. For example, if you could buy a banana icecream or a popcorn icecream, and you buy the banana, you could wonder what the popcorn icecream tastes like for a while, because it is the road you did not take.

"The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost is a metaphor for making life choices. The two diverging paths symbolize different life options, and the speaker's decision to take the less traveled path represents choosing a unique or unconventional path in life.

The road not taken is a metaphor due to the fact Forst is talking about 2 paths to you can take which gives you a choice will you choose the one less traveled by (individuality) or the more protected and better looking road (Conformity). IT shows this through the paths of one being safer looking then the other where taking the path of individuality is a difficult path to take as you must fend for yourself whilst with conformity your taking a much safer path not breaking social norms. Their fore the poem using 2 paths in stead of just telling the audience the real idea of making a decision on whether to conform to an event or be an individual and stand out.
