The big three Gods in Greek mythology were Zeus,Poseidon, and Hades. Each were incredibly powerful and even though they came into conflict with each other they never joined in battle but rather submitted themselves to binding arbitration.
Zeus and Poseidon argued over Thetis and submitted to the arbitration of Prometheus to settle the dispute. (She ended up going to a third party)
Zeus and Hades 'negotiated' over the fate ofPersephoneand finally agree on a 50/50 time share.
Poseidon and Hades fought over some detail concerning the ocean floor (it is not precisely know what it was). The contention resulted in earthquakes, volcanos and tidal waves (Tsunamisactually) and finally resolved itself back to the former status quo.
