Walk on the left side of the horse, do not leada horse by walking directly in front of it. Do not walk behind a horse unless you let it know you are there and either walk close to the tail (less then a foot between you and the horse) or far away (about 6ft between you and the horse) so it cannot kick.... There are many more, but you should be talking to a trained proffessional in person to collect info, not asking on wikianswers.
It depends on what kind of horse it is. A quarter horse can run a quarter of a mile in 1 minute. Probably a Shetland could only walk a short distance and it also depends on how the horse is taken care of like if the horse is taken to the farrier regularly and fed and stays in good shape

Almost 10km without getting tired or hot!
853.7 miles It would take right at 14 hours by car without stopping.
You shouldn't walk behind horses you're not familiar with, but if you have to, you should rub your hand across their body as you walk behind them (so they know you're there). If you don't want to walk close to them, you should walk really far behind them, so that if they do kick, you're too far away to reach.
