A polar bear can stay underwater for 7- 9 minutes but they usually prefer to go for 6- 7 minutes...Its gives them enough time to hunt underwater...After 7 minutes they start struggling for air...

While hunting they hold their breath for 1- 3 minutes and come up and as soon as they see their prey, they use their average capacity i.e. 5- 6 minutes...
