the Anzacs put a hole in a pan that dripped into another one that set off the trigger of the gun. so the Turks thought they were still there. The Anzacs put bandages on the oars so they made less noise when the Anzacs were rowing away.

The ANZAC's went to fight in Gallipoli in 1914 or 1915.
The Turks won the battle of Gallipoli Strategically Gallipoli was a very bold, imaginative plan which could have had far reaching consequences. The straight answer to the question is Turkey. Had the British, using many Commonwealth troops, pushed into the peninsula much more vigorously and ejected the defenders in the early days of the campaign then the link between Western Europe & Russia by sea in the Mediterranean might have been established.
New Zealand were a part of the British Commonwealth and fought with Britain, Australia and the Americans. New Zealand & Australia hae always fought with Britain in conflicts as ther ties are very close. NZ are not however taking part in Iraq. The scenario has changed over the years and though still closely bonded it is not like the old days when England said jump - it was a question of how high! by both countries. Australia & NZ forces have fought together in many conflicts. They became famous at Gallipoli in the ww1. From that moment on they have been known as the " ANZACS " Very formidable foes who are best to have on your side than against you in my humble opinion. Rob A
