The term 'nurse' in the Elizabethan era was used to describe what we would now call a 'nanny'. The nurse took care of the children of the wealthy. Social status - that of a servant. Money - minimal, but the nurse usually lived in the household and was provided with shelter and food. Dress - the clothing of the period. The nurse worked all hours needed.
