it lasts about a few hundred years or so on

Not really ...

According to the US Mint, most American coins stay in circulation for about 30 to 50 years. Pennies get more use and are more likely to be lost or put away in jars due to their low value, so they go out of circulation somewhat faster.

Other countries have had different experiences. For example, England used the same size and similar design of its pennies for about 250 years and fewer Britons collect coins, so some of their pennies stayed in circulation for a century or more.

Of course when coins are replaced (e.g. modern British decimal pennies replaced the old ones in 1971, euros replaced marks/francs/lira/etc. in 2002, and so on) the lifespan of those older coins can be quite short.

How much coin is in circulation in the US?

No one keeps an exact count of coins in circulation because their usage is too wide and too diffuse. However, the U.S. Mint does provide figures for how many coins are minted each year, but those numbers don't account for how many older coins are lost, stolen, melted, exported, etc., which of course reduces the total in circulation.

Value of 1971 half dollar?

None of the Eisenhower dollar coins (1971-1978) made for general circulation have any silver or are worth more than face value. Only Proof and collectors coins with "S mintmarks sold from the US Mint contain any silver, and that's just 40%. NOTE: Because no Ike dollars were included in the 1971 & 1972 Uncirculated Mint sets sold from the US Mint, typical Mint State coins from 1971 & 1972 do have values of $2.00 to $8.00 depending on the grade and mintmark.

Is us currency printed in 1992 in used?

Of course, all US (federal) bills and coins are legal tender, a 1793 chain cent is still legal tender as is a cent minted in 2013. Since 1992 bills/coins haven't been changed significantly enough to warrant collector value (or bullion value) beyond face value so they are still in widespread circulation.
