Schools will close down if it has 5 confirmed cases they will give all pupils of the school medication and should be closed of a minimum of a week while they decontamenate the school

They probably were not closed for a month in 1973 or 1977, but they may have been closed that long in 1978 due to the 1978 blizzard.
Since flooding occurs historically, there is no way to ascertain which schools were closed, or when, or for how long, and which might have eventually reopened. Current local information is available from the Nashville School Board at the related link below.
In the US, schools close for federal holidays (President's Day, MLK Day, etc.). Schools could be closed for state holidays, too, as long as school is open the minimum number of days required.
When schools first started, kids were needed to help their parents on the farms in summer months and the schedules haven't changed. Consideration is being given to year-round schools now, at least in some areas.
