A 1" sirloin steak will take 8 to 10 minutes on a grill heated up to 400F initially. Obviously, the 8 min. will be more rare than the 10 min. I like the 8 it's has a touch of red at the center.

It will depend on what type of dish you would want to grill. Here's an example of how you can grill a Grilled Sirloin Steak and Garlic Cream Sauce and the time alloted for its cooking.

The ingredients you need are four steaks, a tablespoon of coarse black pepper, two cups heavy cream, two tablespoons chopped garlic, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon pepper, a teaspoon of beef base, a teaspoon of vegetable oil and a slice of butter.

Now start by sprinkling pepper and salt on both sides of the steaks. Spray the vegetable oil onto steaks to prevent them from sticking. Place a small saucepan over medium heat and start to melt the butter in the pan and sauce garlic in the pan for a minute. Pour cream heavily and start mixing it well. Give somtime for the mixture to simmer and season the salt with ½ teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon pepper. Stir in the beef base. Place the meat on the grill. Cook for eight minutes to 10 minutes on each side. Serve with the sauce.

The grilling time for steaks is about the same no matter what type you have. The key factors are: is the steak ground or whole (Hamburgers have a slightly different grilling time, so instructions for grilling "ground steak" will not be quite right for sirloin), how thick the steak is, how rare or well-done you want the steak, and whether you are cooking by direct or indirect heat (direct heat is right over the flames, indirect heat is off to the side of the flames - which is good for example when you want to smoke the steak while you are cooking it).

Cook for the minimum time for a more rare steak. Cook for the longer time for more well done steak.

With a heat around one hundred and thirty degrees, it would take around twenty to thirty minutes per pound. After this is done allow the meat to rest for thirty minutes
