If you pick up as much math, advenced math, trig, science, physics, etc. in high school, and try to also complete as many college courses as possible while still in high school, it may be possible to finish an engineering degree in four years, studying all four years plus three summers. Usually, however, it takes 5 or 5 1/2 years to finish an engineering degree at most colleges. I would contact local engineering companies - perhaps a local city engineer - to learn what path brought them to where they are today.
