some say a few days others say as long as three years. it depends on the temperature, the moisture and the depth at which the cat is buried. i buried my dad's cat about two feet under the ground sometime between November 2011 and January 2012. it was pretty warm for NC that time of year. we never had a good freeze that year. another one of our cats about 10 years ago disappeared and we never saw him again.
