The flying times vary depending on direct or indirect of course. Direct flight will be about 12 hours. Indirect will 14 to 16 hours depending on the stopover place. Some go through Hong Kong, Singapore or Korea.

Here is a web address I found with some information (I'm not associated with this site)

http://www.seejapan.co.uk/transport/air/flights.html Don't forget these are only flying times. A bigger problem is usually the transit times ie waiting in the airport for a connecting flight. When I came here from London I went via Hong Kong and had 7 hour wait between planes! Talk to several travel agencies and try to get good connections. Also if you are flying JAL airlines and are even remotely tall try to get an emergency isle seat as JAL airlines have some of the most cramped and disgustingly small seats I have ever been on.
