Weed has two phases of growth: vegetative, and budding.
The vegetative phase requires at least 12 hours of sunlight per day. If you are getting less than that it means you can't plant pot. In other words, don't bother planting pot until next spring, unless you live on or south of the equator. The vegetative stage lasts until the days get shorter than the nights, which of course happens in the fall.
After the days become shorter than the nights the budding stage begins. This is when the buds (the part of the plant that contains almost all of the drugs) begin to form. At the beginning of this stage the plant will undergo a growth spurt and then stop growing and focus only on producing buds. Once the budding stage begins, the amount of time it takes for your plant to finish budding will depend on the strain. You can expect it take a month and a half minimum, likely longer.

Be warned, helicopters and airplanes routinely fly around looking for marijuana plants outdoors. If you don't have a growers license, silk flowers are your best friend.

∙ 10y agoIf you leave it outside an animal is just going to take it. If an animal doesn't take it, it would have to be left in direct sunlight for weeks until it's completely dried out or vaporized.
