The danger lies in a lot of killed adult worms clogging up heart and lung blood vessels, which is why you don't want to kill them all at once and why the dog must be kept quiet for a month after the more drastic treatment, to lessen the chances of a worm fragment being forced by increased blood pressure into a vessel, clogging it. Fatalities do happen at this stage, so some choose to go only with Ivermectin even if money isn't an issue. Waiting has its downside, too, though.That's the situation as I understand it.
