Most states require a 4 year B.A. degree and 3 years in law school for a total of 7 years. Some states allow you to study with a lawyer and take the Bar exam. All states require some form of Bar exam, most using the Multistate Bar Exam as their base exam and additional state exams.

∙ 12y agoFour years of college for a BA/BS, take the LSAT test, and 3 years of law school. A total of 7 years of school, full time.
There is also the bar exam that is required to obtain a license to become an attorney, which typically adds about 6 months to the process. The exam is given twice a year in the US and it can take 4 or 5 months for it to be reviewed and graded.
