Unfortunately, the states spend less than 25 of federal fund for child support actually on the child support program. Depending on how many cases the assign agent is working, plus other factors such as service on the obligor and if he or she challenges parentage, it can take from 2-6 months. I do advise all fathers to request a paternity test because there's a 30% rate of paternity fraud.
a very long time because they have to get them served and then have to make a court date which can take up to months
With the case backlog, it could take months, so file early. see link below
Child support is used to take care of a child's needs. A parent can choose to give you the money but as long as all needs are met, they do not have to.
Child support has first take with any moneys that you get. If you are behind in child support, they will take their percentage out of any money you get.
That depends on how efficient the child support system is in your State/county and whether the father has any income to speak of.
No, you can not file for abandonment charges. You can however, refuse the child support and take the parent to court. If they refuse to attend the court date and/or don't push for rights and you believe they are an unfit parent, then they may loose their rights. This will be a long process, but if a child is involved and are believed to be abused or neglected then it is well worth it. Before beginning a long process like this, make sure that you really believe that the parent is unfit. Once the process is started there is no going back!
It can take up to six months

If the mother has the full custody then she can take the child, and she can get the child support. If she doesn't have the full custody, then she is not allowed to take the child without the father consent, but she still can get the child support.
Unless you are an SSI recipient, child support can take a percentage of your income.

They take the money...sometimes all of it depending on what is owed and process it through the states central collection unit for child support. They money is then transferred to the custodial parent.
