A "day" is basically the time Earth rotates around its axis. Sometimes people talk about a "day" on other planets, which can be anywhere between a few hours and several months. There is no commonly accepted equivalent for the Milky Way.

Is the Milky Way a spiral galaxy?

Ah, happy little question! Yes, the Milky Way is a spiral galaxy, swirling with beautiful arms neatly twirling around the center. Just picture it as nature’s own magnificent spiral painting in the vast canvas of our universe. Well, I do believe you have just added a touch of cosmic wonder to your day, my friend.

Why is day twenty four hours long?

that's how long it takes for the earth to go all the way around

What is the brightest star in milky way?

That's still uncertain, but of those stars which has been discovered, it's the "Eta Carina Star" which has the brightness of 4,7 million suns (sun = the star u see in the sky in the middle of the day).

What percentage of stars in the sky are not in the milky way?

That depends on how you define the "Milky Way". Technically, the "Milky Way" refers to a faint band of light that crosses the night sky. This band is how we see the star-dense disk of our galaxy from our vantage point inside that disk. Our galaxy was named for this band of light, and called the "Milky Way Galaxy". Note that the "Milky Way" and the "Milky Way Galaxy" refer to two different things. The answer also depends on what you mean by "stars in the sky". Do you mean the stars that can be seen from Earth? And if so, with the naked eye, or with a telecope? How powerful a telescope? Or do you mean every star that is "out there", i.e., every star in the universe, whether we can see it or not? I could sit here all day researching and entering answers to all the different ways this question could be interpreted. But I'm not going to waste that kind of time until you tell me what you are talking about. However, there is one way of interpreting this question that I already know the answer to, and I will give you that answer here. If the "Milky Way" means the galaxy, and if "stars in the sky" means stars visible, with the naked eye, from Earth's surface, then the answer is zero. There are no stars outside of our galaxy that are visible from here on Earth. There are a few "objects" outside our galaxy that are visible with the naked eye. But these objects are, for the most part, galaxies themselves, not individual stars. They are so far away that their immense masses appear to us as tiny pinpoints of light, indistinguishable from the true stars we can see. In fact, they are dimmer than most of the stars we can see. In all of the universe, I believe there is not a single individual star outside of our galaxy that is bright enough to be seen from Earth with the naked eye. But I may be wrong on that. There MAY be a couple of stars in one of the Magellanic Clouds that can be seen. But even if that is the case, the answer to the question is still, essentially, zero.

Is the Sun going to line up with the Milky Way?

No. The Milky Way is our galaxy, and our Sun is part of the Milky Way. The Milky Way got its name because it LOOKS like somebody spilled several gallons of milk across the sky. The Milky Way is a spiral-shaped "blob" of many billions of stars; there's nothing to "line up" with. See the link below for a photo of the Milky Way from NASA's "Picture of the Day" archive.

Length of day of milky way?

A day results from the rotation of a planet in orbit around some star. The Milky Way is a Galaxy that does not orbit any body bright enough to shine that kind of light upon it. Our galaxy rotates, however, and one rotation--known as a galactic year--requires about 200 million earth years.

Is the Milky Way in the same place in relation to the constellation Osiris?

The stars that make up the Constellations (Osiris which we call Orion now is no exception) are all within the Milky Way galaxy. The relative positions of stars changes over great time scales but since the Egyptians named Osiris to our day the changes have been barely noticeable. That goes for the position of the Milky Way in the sky too.

Can the sun fall from its spot?

Yes. It does this every day. It is in motion travel though the Milky Way Galaxy and we are tagging along on the Earth for the ride.

Does milkey way have day and night?

No - the Milky Way Galaxy (and galaxies in general) are collections of gas, dust, planets & stars, all of which are gravitationally bound, spinning around a central core.

What is the relationships between milky way and earth sun and moon?

Earth and moon are small stones moving in orbits around the sun.Sun, along with the family of tiny pebbles that are bound to it and go wherever it goes,is one of somewhere between 200 to 400 billion stars in the Milky Way.Milky Way is one of several billion galaxies visible from earth. And there are more besides those, that are so far away that our largest present-day telescopescan't see them.
