from what I've read about it, it depends on what kind of staph infection there is. there are many different forms of staph. the wound needs to be completely healed but that doesn't mean that it's gone. if you have taken antibiotics, don't stop just because the wound is healed...continue the treatment. you can bathe in epsoms salt, I've even heard use a cap full of bleach in the tub (a full tub of water) and that would help. Personally I wouldn't try it, there is a tea tree oil, which is a natural source of antifungal that would help medicate it daily. I hope the general knowledge helps someone. I don' t know everything about it, but this is just tidbits I got from reading.

How long are you contagious with mrsa before you show signs?

MRSA (methylcillian resistant staph aureus) is a staph infection that is resistant to most antibiotics. There are many kinds of staph germs. If you have MRSA your infection will not "look" any different than someone with non-MRSA staph. A person can "carry" the MRSA germ without ever actually having the infection. If they have an open wound, the germ can infect it (via touch/contact) and cause the wound to have a hard time healing until super strong antibiotics are used. Once someone has MRSA, they are considered "positive" always. Summary: You can be "contagious" and NEVER show symptoms.

What is mersa infection?

MERSA and MRSA are the same bacteria, Staph Aureous. When then become resistant to a certain antibiotic called methicillin they then get the designation of methicillin resistant Staph Aureous. The difficulty in treating this super bug is that is is resistant to many, but not all antibiotics.MSRA is a contagious disease that is a strain of bacterial staph infection.

Is a staph infection contageous?

Yes.You must finish taking all of the antibiotics. Even if your symptoms have begun to clear up and you are feeling better; if you still have antibiotics left than you are likely still contagious.Symptoms often begin to go away before you have completed taking all of the medicine, the virus itself however is normally still present and your body is still fighting it off.
