that depends on what you're talking about when you say "data". if you are wondering how long data will stay if you save it and never touch it, in theory, forever. However hard drives and other digital media do become corrupt so always have a backup. if you are talking about deleted data again its indefinite but more likely to be lost.

the time frame is going to vary most on when the space occupied gets filled again

your hard drive fills up space from beginning to end something like this ----------------

when you delete something it leaves a blank space in the drive -- --- -- -----

those blank spaces are not actually blank, they are deleted from the registry, meaning that operating systems are no longer able to find them. but there are special programs that will search those spots for you.

and finally when you write more data to your hard drive it fills in the blank spaces first

--_---_--_----_______ causing the hard drive to work harder to find the required info to run a program hence the need for a regular defragmentation schedule

How do you recover data from RAW hard drive?

To recover data from a RAW hard drive the hard drive must be intact in some way. Connect the damaged hard drive as the slave drive and another hard drive that is in working order as the master drive. This should allow for file transfer as long as the RAW drive is not too far damaged.

Are the memory chips and the hard drive the same thing?

No, the memory chips are RAM, Random Access Memory. These are actual chips that fit into slots on the motherboard. This type of memory is temporary memory that your computer uses for current operations. This can be compared to active consciousness. This is what you're aware of at that moment, what's currently happening. The hard drive is memory storage. This is long-term memory. Data can be retrieved from here & brought into RAM, & data can be stored here from RAM. But this is long term memory, and is stored on a disk drive separate from but connected to the motherboard.

What does a computer stores data?

A computer stores data on a Hard Disk Drive. It spins around very fast as a read/write head burns microscopic etches onto the disc(s). Very old computers didnt have hard disk drives. They stored their information on gigantic floppy disks. They worked pretty much the same way as a hard drive except they use magnetism. A new technology is Solid sate drive, where a device stores information electronically on small flash chips.

Can you store data in the CPU for a long time?

Hmmm, a CPU (processor) stores no data. RAM or Memory can store data as long as the computer is ON and the Hard Drive can store data indefinately (forever).

Is it possible to install a hard drive from a broken PC into a working one to retrieve data from it?

Yes, as long the hard drive is not mechanically dead. Just set it up as a slave drive.

What is the long term storage device?

How does data file recovery actually retrieve deleted files?

Data file recovery retrieves deleted files by scanning the hard drive. When a file is deleted, its data is still capable of being recovered as long as the space it was in on the hard drive has not been rewritten.

What is the primary storage device on the computer?

If you are talking about internal storage, the SCSI drive was the first. However, tape drives were used long before that. Many early computers didn't even have a hard drive, instead the data was simply stored in RAM, and erased after the computer was turned off.

Which device on the computer can store data in long term?

Is an usb flash drive an input or output device?

A USB Flash drive is considered a storage medium. Data can be both read, stored, and sent to / from a USB Flash drive, but it does not in itself input or output any data.

If whole computer was not work properly then how use backing up data in computer to repair computer?

Since all your data is stored on a hard drive or another storage device(such as flash drives and memory) then you can restore your computer using that storage device. Basically if you remove your hard drive from your old computer you can put it in another computer, like a new one. As long as it isn't damaged or ESD(Electrostatic Discharge).
