How long is the Japanese mountain range?

The so-called Japanese Alps run the full length of Honshu, the

main island of Japan. The ball park estimate for their length is

something on the order of 1,000 miles. This "spine" roughly bisects

Honshu along its length, and is divided into three moderately

distinct regions. From north to south, they are the Hida, the Kiso

and the Akaishi Mountains. You might want a link, and you've got
