you can take them at the same time. klonopin is not an opiate so it won't effect the suboxone. some doctors tell you not to mix suboxone with downers, but i've done it a million times and its fine.

∙ 7y agoSeeing that these two meds together have potentially fatal interactions, you should question your doctor to make sure he/she is aware you were prescribed both before taking them together at all. Sometimes, mistakes are made. You have to be very clear and update the doctor about any new meds each visit.
Generally, the only time these are taken together is when they were illegally obtained and being abused. If that is the case, you should speak to your doctor to see if you have a drug abuse issue.

I take 12mg of suboxone and anywhere from 1 - 2mg of klonopin. I would not take a much higher dose of the klonopin as there is a chance for respiratory depression. My doctor is a 25 year veteran and has been involved with suboxone treatment for the last 5 years, so I trust his opinion.
