It can be different from one person to the next, but my experience is as such: I had to detox from methadone to start a Suboxone detox, my last dose of methadone came on a Monday at 10AM, I was to start Suboxone on Thursday morning, the cold turkey off the methadone became a bit much by Wednesday. I shot 2 bags to curb the withdrawals at 4PM on Wednesday and was dosed with 16 mgs OS Suboxone at 8:30AM on Thursday as planned and was not feeling great but was safe from the sickness that comes from taking suboxone to soon after your last push off. Hope that helps a bit.

∙ 11y agoIt depends on whether you're taking it recreationally, or if you're taking it for opiate addiction. Suboxone affects people with pre-existing opiate addictions differently than it affects people who take it recreationally. For people who are already addicted to opiates, Suboxone does not get them high, so it's not as dangerous for them to drink while they're on it. After I quit heroin and started taking Suboxone, I became a serious alcoholic. I was drinking a liter of vodka a day, on top of my 8-mgs of Suboxone, and nothing bad ever happened, except for liver damage. Suboxone is bad for your liver, and so is alcohol, so taking them together is very hard on your liver.
But if you're just taking Suboxone recreationally, then it's probably more dangerous to drink. You can still drink while you're on the Suboxone, but you should be very careful: drink slowly, and don't drink too much.

∙ 14y agoYou should no eat/drink anything while the sub is dissolving. Once dissolved (about 5-10 minutes) you can safely drink. The taste is horrible, but if you drink- you are not getting the correct dosage amount.

I guess it would be okay for you to take a vicodin after 48 hours of you not taking any suboxone. Suboxone has a long half life and that means it stays in your system for a long period of time. First of all, why would you want to only be on suboxone for a week? suboxone doesn't work in a week. And if it does work for you in a week then why would you want to touch a vicodin again??

You should wait until you are experiencing full withdrawals. I would recommend waiting at least 36 hours and 48 hours if you can stand it. If you wait 48 hours you will definitely not get sick but I it is risky before that.

For starters, I wouldn't advise that an opiate addict take prescription pain medication while trying to get off of other opiates using Suboxone. Suboxone is used for opiate dependence and addiction, and should be used as part of an enitre recovery plan. With that being said, it should be fine taking the Norco after that much time has elapsed just as long as you take the Norco AFTER the Suboxone and not before. Taking Norco before can cause full blown precipitate withdrawls, and an individual should wait to take Suboxone until they are starting to withdrawl from the other opiates. Again, I advise that any individual on Suboxone should stay on it, so that they do not screw up their chances of recovering. You can do it!
