It is not a question as to how long it will last. It may or may not last 177,000 miles or even 200,000 miles. The problem is that this is an interference engine. If the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage and will spend lots of money to have the engine repaired. Toyota recommends you replace the belt at 90,000 miles. They do this for a very good reason, and the reason is that it is an interference engine. Do you want to take a chance of the belt breaking and ruining your engine, all to get a few thousand more miles out of the belt? Replace the belt at 90,000 and do not risk it.

Personal Experience: I have a 2001 Sequoia with 125,000 and just replaced the timing belt and water pump for about $800 at a local mechanic. There were no indications that it was going but I was heading on a long road trip and did not want any problems. My sister has the same SUV and never did hers and it is at 177K!!!! It is a tough call, the dealers recommend 90K.
