There is no such thing as a fully fiberglass roof. If there was, it would'nt last very long as the materials inovolved in fiberglass (i.e. mainly glass) are not intended to withstand direct exposure to the elements. If you are looking for how long fiberglass insulation in your roof will last, your best bet would be to speak to a houseing contractor.
No fiberglass alone is not a composite, it is only that fiberglass. But if you combine fiberglass with resin which is mixed first with a catalyst so it becomes hard, it then becomes a FRP part which is known as Fiber Reinforced Plastic, which is a composite. This is what most us have seen as examples of composites when looking at a corvette car fender, diving boards, surf board, motor boats or sail planes these are all examples of Fiber Reinforced Plastic parts, which combines these two substances both resin and fiberglass to become a composite. Each substance alone does not have the necessary mechanical proprieties which would be necessary alone for a material suitable for some type of structure , but with both of the substances combined they become a true composite. This where where the substance of one material which lacks these necessary properties are then found in the other materials properties alone they are almost useless but combined these materials help to make up for what the other one lacks.
Fiberglass is very durable and has an extremly long lifespan. It should last several decades depending on how well it is taken care of
Bone is a composite material, like fiberglass (something hard [and thus brittle] in a matrix of a more flexible substance. In fiberglass the glass makes the (fishing rod) strong, the plastic makes it tough. In bone, the calcium salts make it strong and hard, the connective tissue makes it tough.
Fiberglass bathtubs are the way to go, they are not only sturdy and strong, but last a long time and dont chip, stain or perish.
Fiberglass is a composite material reinforcement. Parts made using fiberglass are typically still referred to as "fiberglass." Fiberglass parts are made from strands of glass fiber which are suspended in a polymer (plastic) matrix (resin). Fiberglass cloth is a fabric comprised of strands of glass fibers that are bundled together in different weaves. Unlike carbon fiber, fiberglass can be purchased in the form of cloth where long continuous stands of glass are woven into a fabric using a predetermined weave, or in chopped strand mat where short strands of glass are formed randomly into a fabric and held together by a weak styrene styrene bonding agent. Fiberglass cloth has good direction strength while fibergas mat has a lower strenght but is equal in all directions. The two most common glass types are E-glass and S-glass. S-glass is a higher strength glass reinforcement, sometimes referred to as structural-glass, and as you can imagine it is a bit more expensive. It should last for years as long as you don't walk on it and smash it down .I have it in my house and it is 20 yrs old ( fiberglass type )
