They are from tidal eastuarys in the tropics and so are capable of handling both sea and fresh water. They should be OK for a couple of years or so provided there is at least some salt in the water.
yes all puffer fish can survive in fresh water areas
No. Puffer fish can only survive in the ocean.
Most puffer fish can be found in tropical or subtropical water. You can find some species of puffer fish in fresh water however, that is very rare.
the puffer fish is found in both fresh and salt water it just depends on what kind of puffer fish you want to look at
it's actually both. there are fresh water puffers and saltwater puffers and brackish water puffers. the fresh water ones tend to be large (2ft for some species) for a more accurate answer i need a species name for the puffer
algae, decaying plants in the water
There are some species of Puffer fish that can live in fresh water or sea water (Marine). The only naturally evolved Parrot fish is a marine fish. The thing that is 'called' a "parrot fish" that lives in fresh water is a man (laboratory) made species that doesn't even have a proper Taxonomic name. It could live with any species of Puffer fish that can live in fresh water but it may be bitten by the puffer fish.
There are many species of puffer fish. All species live in the water most live in saltwater though there are some species that are brackish and can live in fresh water as well.
no! The flat head goes in fresh water and salt water, so does the puffer fish... I think :)
Feed it enough so it doesn't die.
The short answer is all of them. The one you see for sale in aquarium store should be in brackish water, which is a mixture of ocean and fresh water. More like marsh water. If you see them in "Pet$mart" remind them that that puffer fish need to be in brackish water and not the same water that all the other fish are swimming in at the store. As far as I know, there is no variety of classic puffer fish that lives in pure fresh water.
puffer fish mate in the water and lay eggs in the water because they cant breath outside of the water.
