I don't know what planet you have in mind, but remember that spacecraft
never travel a straight line. They're placed into a solar orbit, with just the
right eccentricity and orientation so that eventually, the spacecraft and the
destination planet will arrive at the same place at the same time.
The whole thing is really tricky, and the total distance traveled is always
much much more than the straight distance between the start- and end-points.
