A British sterling silver Double Florin (Four Shillings), was only issued from 1887 to 1890 and abandoned possibly due to its size and weight.

A British sterling silver Double Florin (Four Shillings)(Victoria)(depending on the year), uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch up to £130 GBP. If it has been circulated but still in good condition, it might fetch up to £12 to £60 GBP.

A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation.

Pre-20th century mintage figures are not especially accurate since the coins were often minted by weight rather than to a specific quantity.

As far as the 1893 British Double Sovereign is concerned, it is thought that approximately 52,000 coins were minted for general circulation. A further 800 were minted as Proof coins.
