The Bible says that 600,000 fighting men were among the Israelites who left Egypt. This is equivalent to at least a total population of at least 2,500,000, including women, children, the elderly and the priestly tribe. The Bible also says that of these, only Joshua was allowed to live to enter Canaan.

In ancient times, a great many deaths would have occurred in childhood and early adulthood, so the number of Israelites who died in the wilderness would have greatly exceeded two an a half million because of those who were born and then died during the forty years in the wilderness. To date, archaeologists have been unable to find the graves of any of those who died, to confirm this estimate.

Answer:

The tribe of the Levites, the elderly, the women, and the children all survived. Those who died were 600,000.

Answer:

All those who had been over twenty at the time of the Spies' return, and many more beside in disease and war (often heaven-wrought). Enough that the population didn't increase over the forty years.

The bible says that there were 600,000 fighting men in the Exodus from Egypt. On this evidence, scholars say the total number of Israelites in the desert would have been approximately two and a half million, including the priestly class, women and children - plus their livestock.

Answer

According to Exodus 12:37, there were about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. Counting the parents, grandparents, wife, children, then the number of Israelites with Moses is around 2.5 to 3.5 million.

About two million, since the men of twenty to sixty years old numbered 600,000 (Exodus ch.12), and they had wives, children and old folks in addition to the 600,000.
