How many O.W.L's did Harry Potter Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger get?

There are twelve possible O.W.L. s a Hogwarts student can receive: Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination, Herbology, History of Magic, Muggle Studies, Potions, and Transfiguration.

Now, in the Half-Blood Prince (6), Ron says that Hermione got ten Outstandings and one Exceeds Expectations. But that would mean she would have had to have taken eleven O.W.L. examinations. However, we know that that can't be true because she stormed out of Divination in Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaband (3), and quit Muggle Studies later in the year to not have to use the Time Turner anymore. After the third book, she would have had ten classes - not eleven.

This was a mistake on either Ron's part (misspeaking) or J.K. Rowling's (making him misspeak), because Hermione had ten classes, unless she still took the Muggle Studies owl even though she didn't attend the class (being muggle-born she could have gotten an O anyway) however most people think it was just a mistake. So she got NINE Outstandings and one Exceeds Expectations in Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Hermione got ten O.W.L.s in all.
