If they are drafted and if their seasons don't conflict, yes they can.
Francis Marion University has produced a few players who have been drafted into the NBA, most notably John O'Korn, who was selected in 1987. Additionally, other players have entered professional leagues, but the number of those drafted directly into the NBA is limited. The university is more recognized for its overall contributions to college basketball rather than for a large number of NBA draftees.
The 2016 NBA Draft is on June 23.
I would assume it is because there is a higher probability of them being drafted into the NBA than there is for football players to be drafted into the NFL.
