about 20 since every soda tab is about 5 cents each I think it is closer to 2300 tabs. Can aluminum is going for about 55 cents per pound today. At 1250 tabs per pound that is equivalent to about 2300 tabs per dollar.
The tabs are made out of a slightly different aluminum alloy than the rest of the can but it is not more expensive.
Read the link below: Can Tabs Urban Myth.
Given that 1 lb, lbs = 453.592 37 grams, and if an aluminum tab is approximately equal to .3 grams then it would take about 1512 aluminum tabs to equal one pound.
an average soda can tab weighs between 1.25-1.4 gram and there are 28.35 grams in an ounce. so if your soda can tab weighs 1.3 oz it is 28.807 round that to 29.
Scrap aluminum cans price which is .50 per pound in my area as of 3/13.
