How to convert horsepower to amps? You'd have to make an assumption about volts.
If it's running at 220 volts, that would make it 34 Amps.
There are 746 watts in a horsepower and Amps = Watts/Volts.
You will need to determine its input power when its output power is delivering 10 horsepower -this depends on its efficiency, which you don't specify.
To answer this question a voltage is needed. 1 HP = 746 Watts. Amps = Watts/Volts.
A fuse is a safety device which is designed to blow (fuse) if a larger current than it is rated for passes through it. So a 10 amp fuse can pass anything up to 10 amps.
It could be a single phase 1/4 HP motor running on 230 volts AC.
At peak power it should draw 1.36 amp at power factor 1 or more realistically 1.7 amp at power factor 1.7.
That is 10 amp wire.
AWG #10 copper on a 30 amp breaker.

7.75 amps
In how many amps of current before blowing out. 2 amp 5 amp 10 amp 15 amp etc.
4
30 amp breaker 10 /2 gauge wire
About 3 amps, maybe slightly less.
To answer this question the voltage of the compressor is needed.

I think you mean 2 HP pump. I am assuming a 220 To 240 volt supply and that should equate to about a 12 amp current. All my pumps use only a 30 amp breaker and 10 AWG wire.
