Revolvers fired by experienced marksmen can be fired very rapidly- in some cases, 6 shots in less than 2 seconds. However, the process of ejecting fired cartridge casings, and reloading new ammunition will slow the rate of fire sharply. One standard police department handgun qualification requires the shooter to fire 6 rounds (and hit the target!) empty, reload, and fire 6 more rounds in 30 seconds. This would produce an EFFECTIVE rate of fire of 24 rounds per minute, but can be faster depending on the skill of the shooter. and capacity of the gun (not all revolvers are six shots)
