Gestation in Sperm Whale females lasts about 14 to 16 months. A sigle calf is produced at the end of gestation. Lactation proceeds for 19 to 42 months, but calves may suckle up to 13 years. Calves can suckle from females other than their mothers. Females generally have birth intervals of three to six years between calf birth.
They will probably have 5 or 6 calves in their lifetime.
This is just a guess: about 30. Females reach maturity at about seven years of age, live 45-100 years, and bear calves every two or three years. It is not known what age they stop bearing calves.
Usually only one at a time, 2-3 years apart.
Humpback whales generally have one calf at a time, 2-3 years apart.
Whale pregnancy last about a year. And the cow might not breed the first year. So less than one.
usually only one. Twin births are rare
30 to 40
The natural predators of the humpback whale are orcas (killer whales) and occasionally sharks. Attacks usually happen in the humpback whale's feeding grounds. They only attack calves. Orcas are a bigger threat than a shark.
Humpback whales don't usually attack other species of whales. Killer Whales are the only whales known to do that.
Humpback whales migrate to polar waters, but mates and calves in the tropics
well they live with cows on a farm. They treat calves like there young... The End!!
I only know the natural predators of a humpback whale, although I'm sure other baleen whales share the same predators. While there are white whales - like the Belugas, it's not a recognized species name. Natural variety sometimes create individuals that have a whiter/brighter hue than the norm for the species. Possibly even Albino specimens. The Great White Whale of the novel Moby Dick is supposed to be a white(ish) sperm whale. And since not all whales would be able to eat chunks of meat even if they tried - due to being baleen whales, filter feeders - it's impossible to say if a white whale would have a go at a humpback whale. No, only killer whales and sharks eat humpback whale calves. The kills usually happen in humpback whale feeding grounds (cold, polar, waters). Sharks occasionally prey on really young calves, but killer whales are a much bigger threat.
yes because their their the same
Humpback whales are called Humpbacks for short.
There is no specific Australian slang for humpback whales.
I was the one who ask the question.
Dorphins are afraid of Great Whites, but the shark they fear most is the Tiger Shark. About whales, it depends. Mature Blue whales, Sperm whales, Humpback whales and other large cetaceans do not fear great whites. But their calves DO!
