∙ 10y agoThe number of autistic people in the UK is 700,000 but this figure doesn't include those who are autistic but yet to be diagnosed - as for people who are effected by autism, it is impossible to say as autism can effect entire families, carers and educators.

Within the UK there are around 700,000 people with autism (1 in 100) - however many people are not yet diagnosed so the real numbers could be significantly higher.

It's sadly a myth when people with autism spectrum disorder have no emotions. Like Spock from Star Trek. Autistic individuals have always been called robotic or monotones. Many autistic people have emotions but they may not express them like neurotypicals can. And it doesn't mean the feelings and emotions are not there.

I have a serverly Autistic brother and a son with Autistic traits. Basically every Autistic child has deferent obsesstions and behavours. Some Autistic children become attached to objects and others to just one person usually the mother. Some autistic babies talk jabber talk to their hands, most autistic child will not accept change. All autistic children are highly intelligent. Autistic children they say become autistic adults, not true. I taught my son to clap his hand when he started jabber talking to his hands. Having an autistic brother i learnt alot about early inconvention. Knowing the signs of austistic behavours with my brother, enabled me to intervene and cox my child out of these obsessive haviours. please don't give up if your child has been diagnosed with autisim as you as a parent can work with your child and teach them normal behavours, and make them accept change by not letting them get into a routine. good luck
Are autistic people smart?
it’s a rather complicated question because individuals with autism tend to be neurologically diverse. I find that many people will occasionally put autistic individuals into one group which isn’t accurate. People need to grasp the fact that it’s a spectrum disorder so people with autism can be very intelligent. This isn’t stating that every single person with this disorder is capable of intellectual greatness because it’s diverse. In fact, it is believed that Elbert Einstein could’ve had this disorder because of the way he behaved. Traits like having poor communication skills, bad anxiety, anti social behavior, and having intense interest in a subject are common amongst people within this spectrum.

Yes - autistic people can do anything that neurotrypical people can do. There are many autistic actors, for example Daryl Hannah.
