How many classes should you take your first year in college?

Depends on what classes you sign up for and what times they are held. For example, last semester I had two a day, now I have three classes three days a week and two classes two days a week. In short, there is no set schedule for every college. I have known people who have classes only twice a week.

A bachelor's degree in most areas can require between 120 to 128 college credits particular to a specific program of study. This would be based on a college or university that operates on a regular two semester academic year which is the most common. For institutions that operate on a tri-semester or quarter-semester it would be quite different. That being said, the Bachelor's degree - in most cases - is designed as a four year program of study, provided the student is full-time and follows their chosen program of study as prescribed by the college or university, and also provided the individual does not require prerequisite or developmental coursework as a result of basic skills testing. The minimum credit load for a full-time student is no less than 12 credits per semester. However, to complete the degree within the four years, a credit load of approximately 15 to 18 credits is recommended. For individuals who work or who have other responsibilities that would prohibit them from attending full-time, completion of the degree may take twice as long. Still, some of this time can be cut down by attending summer sessions and/or interim sessions. In addition, the bachelors and associate degrees are referred to as undergraduate degrees while the masters and doctorate degrees referred to as graduate degrees.

It all depends on what college it is, and what class it is. Bigger colleges may have up to several hundred students in a class (mostly for the generals) but smaller colleges or higher up classes (like a hard math class that most of the majors don't need) generally have smaller classes, like ten to twenty students.

Usually, the number of classes per year is 7, but some take study halls and have a free period. It varies from state to state, but students are also required to have a certain number of passed courses.

Depends. Each class has units. A unit translates into the number of hours a class is held. For instance a two unit class would meet 2 hours a week. Most classes are 3 units and these add up to meeting your subject area graduation requirements. In an average term you should take 12-15 units so you can finish school.

A good start for your first term would be 12-15 units. 12 units is 4 3 unit classes. 15 units is 5 3 unit classes. If you plan to party and not study you will be on probation by the second semester.
